Overview of the Assisted Living Administrator 15-Hour Training Program

The Assisted Living Administrator 15-Hour Training program is designed for certified personal care home administrators or nursing home administrators with the state of Pennsylvania who have a minimum of 60 college credits or a RN or LPN license. This program aims to equip administrators with the necessary skills and knowledge to manage, outline, and coordinate services for older adults who may require help with eating, bathing, taking medication, and other basic needs.

• Qualifications and Responsibilities of Administrators: As per Pennsylvania Code Chapter 2800.53, interested individuals must already be certified Personal Care Home Administrators with the State of Pennsylvania.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

• Administrator Qualifications:
  1. A license as an RN from the Department of State and 1 year of direct care or administrative experience in a health care or human services field.
  2. An associate degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university in a human services field and 1 year of direct care or administrative experience.
  3. An associate degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university in a field not related to human services and 2 years of direct care or administrative experience.
  4. A license as an LPN from the Department of State and 1 year of direct care or administrative experience.
  5. A license as a nursing home administrator from the Department of State and 1 year of direct care or administrative experience.
• Administrator Responsibilities:
  • The administrator shall be responsible for the administration and management of the residence.
  • The administrator shall have the ability to provide assisted living services or to supervise or direct the work to provide assisted living services.
  • The administrator shall have knowledge of this chapter and the ability to comply with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
