CDA Program Overview

The CDA Course meets the 120 hours of professional education required for the CDA Credential and guides participants in how to complete the entire CDA Credential process. The course includes ten online mentoring tutorials and resources that will help participants navigate through the CDA process.

Program Details

• The CDA Course is self-paced and can be completed in 120 hours.
• The course offers pay-as-you-go or pre-payment options.
• The goal of the BKC CDA course is to prepare CDA candidates to apply to the CDA Council for Professional Recognition.
• The course provides resources to help participants complete the CDA Credential process, including online mentoring tutorials.

CDA Renewal

The Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential must be renewed every three years on or before the CDA Credential expiration date. The BKC CDA Renewal coursework is available to support renewal.

Program Updates

• The CDA Course is updated annually.
• No updates were needed in 2020.
• The CDA Course option for articulation to college credit is available through Penn State's World Campus.

Additional Information

• Participants are responsible for reviewing state-specific information in their state approval system if they also consider using courses in the CDA coursework for other training requirements.
• The CDA Council for Professional Recognition provides COVID-19 CDA extensions and updates.
