Program Overview


Introduction to Exercise Science and Human Performance

The Exercise Science and Human Performance major at Queens College is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess various populations and design exercise programs for fitness, health, and performance goals. This program prepares students to become certified exercise physiologists and/or certified strength and conditioning specialists.


Program Details

  • The Exercise Science and Human Performance major is available as a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.
  • Students who graduate from this program are well-prepared for careers in corporate wellness, commercial fitness, community health, athletic performance facilities, and research.
  • They are also ready to pursue advanced studies in fields such as exercise science, strength and conditioning, athletic training, physical therapy, and other allied health disciplines.

Important Information

  • All students who have declared the Exercise Science and Human Performance major as of Summer 2025 and forward will follow the new requirements for the BS in Exercise Science & Human Performance (EXHP-BS).
  • Students who declared the Nutrition & Exercise Science (NEXSCI-BS) major before Summer 2025 are eligible to transfer into the new Exercise Science & Human Performance (EXHP-BS) major.
  • Substitutions are available for students moving to advanced degrees in allied health (physical & occupational therapy, nursing, physician’s assistant, and pre-med).

  • The program director for the Exercise Science and Human Performance major is Ann Azzollini, who also serves as the undergraduate advisor.
