Health, Physical Education, & Dance Department

The Health, Physical Education, and Dance Department offers various degree programs and courses.

NYSDOH EMT Certification Course

The Emergency Medical Technician course (HE-200) is designed to prepare students for the New York State Department of Health emergency medical technician certification exam. The course includes:


  • 108 hours of lecture
  • 88 hours of practical skill instruction
  • 24 hours spent on a 911 ambulance under the guide of a preceptor

Students must adhere to strict attendance and punctuality policies as mandated by the NYS DOH. Students must be 18 years old by the certification exam date. Students completing the course registered through the Health and Physical Education department will receive 9.5 college credits.

Registration

Students can register for the class through the Office of Admissions or the Office of Continuing Education.


Class Schedule

In the Spring and Fall semesters, the class meets:


  • Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 10pm
  • 10 Saturdays from 9am to 6 pm Patient contact on a 911 ambulance is also required. These ambulance sessions will be scheduled by the instructor.
