Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP)

The Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) is designed to guide motivated students to graduate on time. Since 2007, thousands of students have benefited from tailored academic, social, and financial support. With a dedicated ASAP advisor, students craft a strategic plan that ensures their hard work counts.

Eligibility and Application

To be eligible for ASAP, students must be New York City residents who:


  • Have completed less than 21 college credits and are ready for full-time study
  • Are proficient or close to proficient in math and English
  • Are not enrolled in the SEEK/College Discovery program
  • Are not studying any of the excluded majors/programs (Undeclared nursing, physical therapy assistant, occupational therapy assistant, EMT, radiology, dietetic technician, or certificate programs)

The application process involves:


  1. Applying to LaGuardia if not already enrolled
  2. Applying for Financial Aid
  3. Completing all LaGuardia admissions requirements
  4. Expressing interest in ASAP
  5. Meeting with an ASAP recruiter to complete next steps if eligible

Program Requirements

To stay on track with ASAP, students must:


  • Remain a full-time student each semester
  • Maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) above 2.0
  • Understand and keep track of drop/refund deadlines on the LaGuardia academic calendar
  • Complete financial aid applications annually if eligible
  • Graduate within three years
  • Enroll in all required courses
  • Meet with their advisor and attend group activities monthly, along with the career specialist and tutors
  • Learn about resources available on the transfer services page
  • Participate in career development activities

Career development activities include:


  • Finding the right career based on interests using the Career Coach
  • Creating a resume and cover letter
  • Finalizing a resume and searching for internship and employment opportunities
  • Practicing interviewing for jobs by attending a mock interview
  • Developing a LinkedIn presence and using it to advantage
  • Practicing networking and interviewing

Financial aid assistance involves:


  • Completing the free FAFSA and TAP applications
  • If eligible under the New York State Dream Act, receiving state aid
  • Letting the recruitment team know if not eligible for financial aid, as students can still participate in the program without the tuition waiver
  • Viewing tuition bills and financial aid
  • Contacting the ASAP Financial Aid Liaison for assistance
  • Finding help to complete Financial Aid and FAFSA applications, appeal forms, important dates, and scholarships through Student Financial Services
