Program Overview


Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Online Program (CJBS Online) is a guided degree completion program designed for students who have earned an associate degree or at least 55 credits. The program allows students to complete their degree online, with a guaranteed availability of courses every semester.


Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the CJBS Online program, students must:


  • Have earned an associate degree or at least 55 credits
  • Have taken 3 of the following 5 classes: American government, Sociology 101, Criminal Justice 101, Police Studies 101, Corrections 101
  • Have earned an overall GPA of at least 2.0 from their prior institution
  • Have completed English and math General Education Requirements
  • Have been accepted to John Jay College of Criminal Justice

Enrollment Process

To enroll in the CJBS Online program, students must:


  1. Review the eligibility requirements
  2. Ensure they have applied and been accepted to John Jay College
  3. Fill out the interest form
  4. Allow 3-4 business days for their student information to be reviewed and processed
  5. Attend a mandatory academic advising appointment
  6. Register for classes

Courses and Academic Success

The CJBS online program offers a selection of courses for each Criminal Justice B.S. degree component. Students can choose from 3-5 options for courses in each semester. The program is designed to be completed in two years, with students enrolling in 12 credits during the fall and spring semesters and 6 credits each summer.


Program Costs and Financial Aid

The cost of the online degree can be determined using the resources available on the John Jay College website. Students who are eligible for Pell Grants or TAP funds can use these to cover the costs of the online degree. Financial aid officers can provide assistance with managing education expenses.


Technology

Students will need regular access to the internet and will complete their coursework on the Brightspace Learning Management System. Technical support is available for students who need assistance accessing technology or classes on Brightspace.
