Program Overview


University of Miami Pre-College Program

The University of Miami offers a Pre-College program for high school students, providing them with the opportunity to enroll in college courses during the fall, spring, and summer terms.


Eligibility

  • High school juniors or seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are eligible.
  • Students enrolled in the Non-Degree High School Program pay regular tuition and mandatory student fees.
  • Students can take a maximum of two courses (6 credit hours) during a semester.
  • Students are eligible for 100- and 200-level courses and must meet the course prerequisites and receive departmental approval to enroll.
  • After 12 attempted credits, a grade point average of 2.5 or higher must be maintained to continue in Undergraduate Non-Degree seeking status (with a maximum total limit of 30 attempted credits).

Application Process

  1. Complete the Pre-College Academic Year Application: Submit the application and pay a $75 nonrefundable application fee.
  • Basic contact information for the student and parent or guardian.
  • Name and email address for the school counselor.
  • Parent or guardian confirmation of intent to apply.
  1. Log in to the Pre-College Status Portal: Track the application status.
  2. Upload Supplemental Documents: Transcript(s), school counselor letter, and test scores (when applicable).
  3. Monitor the Pre-College Status Portal: Ensure all required steps are completed.

Program Details

  • Gulliver High School students can enroll in college courses during the fall, spring, and summer terms.
  • Course search: Fall and summer courses are available at the end of March, and spring courses are available at the end of October.
  • Students can take a maximum of two courses (6 credit hours) during a semester.
  • 300-500 level courses will not be approved for enrollment, with some exceptions applying (e.g., SAT scores, previous courses that meet the requisites for 300-500 classes).
