Introduction to the MD/MBA Program

The MD/MBA degree is offered in partnership with the Miller School of Medicine, blending the newly redesigned MBA with the NextGen MD curriculum. This unique program prepares future physicians for the business complexities related to running a private medical practice or heading a group practice, as well as for careers in healthcare management, leadership, and policy.

Program Structure

• The program integrates the newly redesigned MBA to complement the three phases of the NextGen MD curriculum.
• Qualified candidates can complete the dual degree together, earning both an MD degree and an MBA in only four years.
• Full-Time MBA courses are carefully integrated throughout, allowing students to develop business skills and knowledge in healthcare management at an earlier stage without sacrificing the opportunities or experience gained at the Miller School of Medicine.

Program Options

• Current MD students also have the option to consider the traditional format of the MD/MBA program, which adds an additional year to the medical school curriculum.
• Through this legacy format, medical students would apply to the MBA during their third year in order to complete the MBA curriculum in their fifth academic year of study.
