Optional Pre-Screening for Comprehensive Musical Theatre BFA Applicants
Although a pre-screen submission is not required, all approved applicants are guaranteed an audition appointment in the city of their choice.
- If a pre-screen submission is made, applicants should not submit a Common Application to the University of Miami until they have received their prescreen decision.
Design & Technology or Stage Management
The DMT program has two BFA degree tracks: Design & Technology and Stage Management.
- After submitting the Common Application, DMT candidates will be contacted by a Theatre Arts representative to schedule an in-person or virtual interview.
- Before their interview, DMT applicants will be prompted to upload required portfolio materials.
Portfolio Requirements
Design and Theatre Technology Portfolio
- Theatrical resume
- Design and Technology Portfolio that includes production photos, digital or hand-drawn renderings and/or drafting, technical or construction drawings/plans, sketches, build process photos, and paperwork samples.
- Optional: Art-related sample work showcasing artistic skills and creativity.
Stage Management Portfolio
- Theatrical resume
- Examples of stage management paperwork, such as cue sheets and blocking charts, and any other items that demonstrate abilities and skills as a stage manager.
