Overview of the J.D./LL.M. in Estate Planning Program
The J.D./LL.M. in Estate Planning is a dual degree program that allows students to earn both a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Estate Planning. This program is designed for students who want to specialize in estate planning and gain a deeper understanding of the legal and tax aspects of estate planning.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the J.D./LL.M. in Estate Planning program, students must be currently enrolled in the J.D. program at the University of Miami School of Law. Students can apply to the LL.M. program during their second year of law school, but before the end of the spring semester of their second year.
Curriculum Requirements
The J.D./LL.M. in Estate Planning program requires students to complete a total of 107 credits, which includes:
- 76 credits of J.D. requirements
- 19 credits of LL.M. in Estate Planning requirements
- 12 credits of LL.M. courses that can be taken in fulfillment of both degrees
