Pulmonary Fellowship Program

The Pulmonary Medicine Fellowship Program at Harlem Hospital Center is dedicated to producing highly skilled and compassionate pulmonologists who can provide exemplary patient care and contribute to the advancement of respiratory medicine.

Program Structure

Our program accepts 2-3 fellows per year for a 2-year fellowship program. All fellows are accepted through the NRMP and applications are accepted through ERAS beginning around October 1st.


Mission and Goals

Our mission is to train the next generation of pulmonary specialists, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to excel in the field of respiratory medicine. Our goal is to prepare fellows to become leaders in pulmonary medicine, capable of addressing the complex challenges of respiratory diseases with proficiency, innovation, and unwavering dedication to patient well-being along with bridging the disparities in healthcare.


Training and Education

During training, our fellows assume a variety of roles. On the clinical rotations, they interact closely with experienced faculty to learn the scientific basis for the clinical care of acutely and chronically ill patients. Fellows assume active teaching roles while conducting rounds, providing consultation services, performing procedures, and instructing residents and students. Patient care experience is balanced with didactic sessions on clinical and basic science.

  • Conventional and EBUS bronchoscopy
  • Indwelling pleural catheter
  • Basics of critical care and sleep medicine

Fellows receive the support and mentorship they need to develop the skills to become independent medical scholars and scientists.
