Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship

The mission of the Pediatric Emergency Fellowship Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Medical Center is to train clinicians who provide compassionate, state-of-the-art emergency care for children. Our training program develops academicians who are skilled in research methodology and educational scholarship, teachers and role models to other health care personnel and the community, and leaders in the subspecialty of pediatric emergency medicine.

Program Overview

Our emergency department provides care to more than 55,000 children annually at a Level I pediatric Trauma Center within a tertiary care children’s hospital in a diverse New York City community. We are committed to providing quality, evidence-based pediatric emergency care to our medically complex patient population. As a site of the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN), our trainees are exposed to cutting edge research and the continuous commitment to improving the health of pediatric patients.

Training and Education

We provide fellows with a comprehensive point of care ultrasound curriculum and in addition, our division sponsors a competitive ultrasound fellowship. Fellows receive dedicated training in educational strategies, including simulation and debriefing, to hone their teaching skills. Our philosophy is to provide trainees with a strong foundation in all aspects of pediatric emergency medicine, encouraging them to develop their own clinical and academic expertise in the field.
