Program Overview

Education

The Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center offers two postgraduate degree programs, the Masters of Prosthetics & Orthotics (MPO) and Masters of Prosthetics & Orthotics Research (MPO-R), in a blended-format curriculum with the first six months completed online. These programs prepare clinicians and researchers to contribute significantly to the Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) profession.

Our Degree Programs

Masters of Prosthetics & Orthotics

The Masters of Prosthetics & Orthotics (MPO) program is a competitive, 21-month postgraduate degree that prepares a competent entry-level Orthotist/Prosthetist in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavioral) learning domains.

Masters of Prosthetics & Orthotics Research

The Masters in Prosthetics & Orthotics Research (MPO-R) program is designed to train students to become clinician-scientists. Built upon the clinical curriculum, the MPO-R provides advanced training in research methods relevant to the P&O profession and culminates with a thesis.
