Expectations
As a MS student in the internship-based degree, you will be expected to:
- Complete coursework outlined below
- Complete an internship
- Activities including seminar series and lab group meetings are optional
Coursework
The total coursework is 9 units, consisting of:
- 4 units of required courses
- A) Field and lab methods in plant biology and conservation (PBC 450, 2 units)
- B) Critical topics in ecology and conservation (PBC 451, 1 unit)
- C) A course or independent study in Data Science or Statistics
- 5 elective units, which can come from any department as long as it carries graduate level credit
Internship
- Students conduct an internship in the organization of their choice to explore career options, build connections, put their skills into practice, and gain new skills
- The internship will be at least 240 hours and will result in a product agreed upon by the internship host and student
Academic Progress
- Satisfactory Academic Progress must be maintained by students
- A student will not be in good academic standing if he/she has an overall grade average below B (3.0 GPA, and no single grade below C), has more than three incomplete grades, or fails to make satisfactory progress as determined by the internship committee
