Master of Product Design and Development Management (mpd²)

The Master of Product Design and Development Management (mpd²) at the Segal Design Institute, McCormick School of Engineering, is a program designed to elevate students' value through a product design and development curriculum steeped in emerging technology and AI systems. The program aims to help students become senior leaders in creating advanced and groundbreaking new products.

The mpd² program is a STEM degree that prepares students to successfully manage creativity, execute design, and lead product development. The program is a collaborative and rigorous academic program that features a unique and diverse student body, with students typically entering the program with three to 30 years of experience in various industries.

• Innovative Curriculum: The coursework focuses on categories such as Framework for Product Design & Development Leaders, Management Essentials, Managing & Refining the Process, Refining the Process, and Product Development Essentials.

• Modspace: A modular storage solution that transforms how people utilize their undersink space.
• Zenpiece: A unique stress management solution that pairs with wearable devices like a smart watch.
• StoryConnect: A mobile application that guides the storyteller in capturing a keepsake's story through photos, audio, video, and text.

Study Options

Students can complete the mpd² program in nine months on a full-time basis or in two years on a part-time basis. Both programs have the same course curriculum.

Part-time Program (Two Years)

The part-time program is ideal for students who wish to earn a degree while continuing their current employment. Classes are held on alternating Fridays and Saturdays in the fall, winter, and spring quarters.

Full-Time Program (Nine Months)

The full-time program is preferred by students who are willing to leave their workplace in exchange for accelerating their studies and moving to their next professional step more quickly. Classes are held on both Fridays and Saturdays in the fall, winter, and spring quarters.
