About the MMSS Program

The MMSS program is a selective, honors-level major that blends rigorous quantitative methods with applications in the social sciences. Students graduate with skills that prepare them for top-tier graduate programs, research positions, and analytical roles in industries like consulting, tech, finance, and public policy. Founded in 1978, Northwestern's unique MMSS Program allows a select group of high ability students to combine the study of social sciences with rigorous training in mathematics, statistics, and formal modeling.

The program sets up students to explore fields beyond math and science, and prepares them to succeed in graduate study and in a wide variety of careers in the social sciences and business.
