Introduction to the Delnor Residency Program
The Northwestern McGaw Family Medicine Residency at Delnor aims to promote an educational environment of excellence, training family physicians to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care.
Program Overview
Our mission is to develop culturally competent, comprehensive Family Medicine specialists who provide collaborative, inclusive, relationship-centered care in an integrated academic health system. We empower our residents to thrive both personally and professionally, to positively impact our community, and to become leaders in the field of Family Medicine.
Program Director
Santina J. G. Wheat, MD, MPH, serves as the Program Director for the Family Medicine Residency at Delnor.
Curriculum
Residents work alongside their team members during 12-week sessions over the program's three years. The curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive education in Family Medicine.
Salary and Benefits
Residents receive a yearly stipend, and a full overview of benefits for housestaff at McGaw Medical Center is provided.

Community and Learning Sites
The program is based at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, a 159-bed acute-care facility with a medical staff of nearly 600 physicians from 80 medical specialties. Residents also have the opportunity to work at the Family Medicine Practice at Delnor and Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital.

- Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital (Geneva): The primary residency site, providing comprehensive medical care.
- The hospital has a medical staff of nearly 600 physicians from 80 medical specialties.
- Family Medicine Practice at Delnor: A clinic located on the Delnor campus, with physicians having varying clinical interests, including women's health and palliative care.
- Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital (Winfield): Providing exposure to specialty clinical services such as pediatrics, behavioral health, neurology, and orthopedics.
Starzl Academy
The Starzl Academy offers resources, mentorship opportunities, and training to help residents excel as physician-scientists, with a focus on health equity and research.
