Master of Health Leadership and Policy
Program Overview
Master of Health Leadership and Policy
The Master of Health Leadership and Policy (MHLP) degree is designed for clinicians who wish to gain credentials and skills in healthcare administration and leadership. This unique integrated curriculum combines courses from the UBC School of Nursing with courses from UBC Sauder's Robert H. Lee Graduate School, setting the MHLP apart from other master's degrees in healthcare.
Interdisciplinary Approach
The program takes an interdisciplinary approach, providing students with an integrated understanding of best practices in both healthcare and management. Students will take courses in healthcare, administration, public policy, project management, organizational leadership, strategic planning, managerial accounting, and more. Through collaborative industry-driven projects and a practicum with a community partner, students will develop practical skills and build a network across disciplines, positioning themselves to lead effectively in today's interconnected healthcare environment.
Leadership Development
Leadership is woven throughout the curriculum, and in every course, students will have opportunities to learn about, reflect on, and practice their skills. The program empowers students to confidently lead interdisciplinary project teams in a range of healthcare settings.
Flexible Study Options
The program offers two study options: a 12-month full-time option and a 24-month part-time option. The full-time option provides an intense and accelerated experience for propelling careers forward. The part-time option makes it easier to continue working while studying and enables students to apply their learning to their professional role immediately.
Career Outcomes
Our graduates advance into positions of responsibility where they apply their skills to lead change, guide quality improvement, and transform the healthcare system. As a graduate of the MHLP, students will gain a competitive edge by acquiring both specialized skills and broad business knowledge, enabling them to succeed as clinical educators or clinical managers.
