Overview

The Business Technology Management (BTM) option provides an overview of the information systems area, with hands-on lab experience. It is suitable for students who are technically savvy, detail-oriented, and possess creative problem-solving and analytical skills.

Business Technology Management Option Course Requirements

  • Year 2
    • COMM_V 2051: Introduction to Management Information Systems
  • Year 3
    • COMM_V 335: Information Systems Technology & Development (Term 1)
    • Three credits from the following courses:
      • COMM_V 436: Information Systems Analysis and Design (Term 2)
      • COMM_V 4372: Database Technology (Term 2)
      • COMM_V 438: Management of Information Systems (Term 1 or 2)
  • Year 3 or 4
    • COMM_V 4393: Business Telecommunications
    • Six credits from COMM_V 436, COMM 437_V, COMM_V 4384
    • Note: Credit will only be given for one of COMM_V 437 and CPSC_V 304.
    • Note: Credit will be granted for only one of COMM_V 439 and CPSC_V 317.

  • Note: Formerly numbered and titled COMM_V 486Y Cybersecurity. If you've completed the course as COMM_V 486Y, you are not permitted to take it again as COMM_V 338.
