Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs (MPPGA)

The University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs (MPPGA) program equips future policy makers with a profound understanding of policy-making processes through a solid foundation of rigorous knowledge acquisition, policy analysis, career development, and hands-on learning.

Program Overview

• The program is a 20-month, full-time, professional program.
• It is conducted in-person at the UBC Vancouver campus.
• The program includes a capstone project with a real-world policy challenge.
• There are 29 SPPGA faculty conducting research and policy engagement in 30+ countries.

Curriculum

• The program fosters creativity, innovation, and collaboration by integrating course-based learning and practical learning experiences.
• Students conduct community-based fieldwork and build expertise from world-renowned UBC faculty and policy practitioners in areas such as:

Program Structure

• The program allows students to customize their learning to their area of interest in elective streams.
• It includes a capstone project where students consult directly with a client organization to address a real-world policy challenge.

Admissions

• Applications are open early October and close in January and March each year for the following academic year.
• Review of application requirements is necessary for admission.
