Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the Master of Sustainable Forest Management program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Academic background: An academic background in a relevant field such as forestry, environmental science, computer science, or geography.
- Statistics course: Proof of completion of a basic statistics course covering topics such as:
- Basic statistical principles
- Graphic presentation
- Descriptive measures of central tendency
- Inferential statistics and hypothesis testing
- Analysis and inference of linear correlation coefficient and slope of regression line
- Computer systems understanding: Evidence of a working understanding of computer systems, including:
- Basic operating systems (Windows, MacOS)
- Spreadsheets (Excel)
- Word processing
- Desirable skills: Technical writing skills and experience with computer coding or scripting are highly desirable.
Additional Requirements
For applicants with Canadian or USA credentials:
- The academic equivalent of a four-year bachelor’s degree with a minimum overall average in the B+ range in third- and fourth-year courses.
For applicants with International credentials:
- Requirements vary by country.
English Language Proficiency
Applicants whose prior degree is from a university outside Canada in which English is not the primary language of instruction must provide official results of an English language proficiency examination.
- Acceptable tests: TOEFL, IELTS, CAEL, PTE
- Test validity: Tests must have been taken within the last 24 months at the time of submission of the program application.
- Minimum scores:
- TOEFL internet-based: 100, with a minimum score in each component: Reading – 23; Writing – 24; Listening – 23; Speaking – 22
- IELTS: overall band score of 7.0, with a minimum score of 6.5 in each component of the academic test
