Program Overview
Introduction to the Part-Time Master's Program
The UBC Computer Science Department offers a Part-Time Master's Program, allowing students in local industry to take graduate courses on a part-time basis, leading to an MSc in Computer Science. This program enables students to continue working while advancing their career and keeping their knowledge up-to-date in this fast-moving field.
Program Requirements
Students in the Part-Time Master's Program will fulfill the requirements of the full-time Master's Program of their choice.

Research Data, Patents, Publications
UBC has a number of policies governing academic life. In particular, Policy 88 claims ownership on behalf of UBC of many forms of intellectual property created at UBC, including computer materials such as software. Should you choose to patent or commercialize research conducted at UBC, the university will provide resources and expertise to help you do so, and any resulting income will be shared equally between UBC and all of the inventors.
Tuition Fees
Like all graduate students, students in this program are required to maintain continuous registration by paying annual tuition fee in installments. This tuition fee is independent of the number of courses being taken, and for part-time master's students may be assessed tuition fees according to Schedule B. Part-time students are expected to pay at least nine installments (plus authorized student fees) before graduation. Upon program completion, any installments not assessed will be assessed.
Financial Support
- Part-time students are not supported financially by the department.
- Part-time students are not normally supported financially by any faculty member supervising the student's research.
