Quantum Business, Innovation, and Technology (QUBIT) Program

The Quantum Business, Innovation, and Technology (QUBIT) program is a one-year preprofessional program dedicated to supporting undergraduates pursuing careers in the emerging quantum economy. Building on the University’s excellence in quantum science, QUBIT provides professional development programming, community engagement, and funded research and internship opportunities to help students launch successful careers in quantum computing, engineering, R&D, and more.


Program Overview

  • The program is designed for rising first-year students, with no prior experience required.
  • Participants will gain the professional skills and experience needed to thrive in the field through immersive and exploratory career preparation programming.
  • The program includes priority access to the Quantum Career Explorer Program, comprehensive exploration of quantum career pathways, interactive employer-led workshops, and networking opportunities with UChicago alumni and industry leaders.

Comprehensive Career Preparation

  • Over the course of one year, QUBIT participants will complete immersive and exploratory career preparation programming, including:
    • Priority access to the Quantum Career Explorer Program in the fall of matriculation
    • Comprehensive exploration of quantum career pathways
    • Interactive employer-led workshops introducing students to quantum software, quantum terminology, and applications of quantum science within various industries
    • Networking opportunities and professional development training with UChicago alumni and industry leaders, including access to the annual Quantum Recruiting Forum
    • Exposure to quantum initiatives globally through UChicago Treks
    • Funded summer research and industry internships to accelerate career exploration and firsthand learning

Application and Admission

  • Applications for the Class of 2029 have now closed.
  • Applications for the Class of 2030 will open in Spring 2026.
