Introduction to the Data and Policy Summer Scholar Program
The Data and Policy Summer Scholar Program is a 7-week program designed to equip participants with rigorous data analytical skills and a unique focus on policy impact. The program provides participants with the skills to retrieve, analyze, and present data through a public policy lens. Participants will learn to use a scientific approach to address today's social issues and create a measurable impact on society. The program features asynchronous lectures, live teaching sessions and support, applied learning, specialized track design, and a beginner-friendly approach.

Curriculum
The program includes three required modules:
- Data Analytics in Public Policy: This course provides an introduction to the statistical foundations, tools, and methods employed by public policy researchers.
- Introduction to R Programming: This is an introductory course in programming and data analysis for participants with no prior coding experience.
- Capstone Research Project: In this project, participants will collaborate with faculty and a group of peers to tackle a real-world issue with datasets, devising solutions and creating deliverables that can enhance their portfolio online.
Specialized Learning Tracks
The program offers two specialized learning tracks:
- The Academic Track: This track provides a comprehensive toolkit for participants who are interested in further advancing their academic growth by earning a master or PhD-level degree in the social sciences field.

Admissions
To be eligible for the program, participants must:

- Have completed at least one year of full-time undergraduate study
- No prerequisites are needed, and the program is open to all academic backgrounds

Refund and Cancellation Policy
If a participant decides to cancel their program enrollment, they must submit a request in writing at least 30 days prior to the program start date to receive a refund of the paid amount less the non-refundable enrollment deposit.
