Graduate Diploma in Education

The Graduate Diploma in Education is a professional development program designed for educators who want to advance their knowledge and skills in education. The program is offered in several specializations, including Indigenous Education: Wholistic Teachings and Transformative Pedagogies.


Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Graduate Diploma in Education program, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  • A Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 2.5
  • A British Columbia teaching certificate from a recognized teacher preparation program
  • Submitted evidence that the applicant can undertake advanced work in the area of interest

Tuition & Costs

The tuition fee for the Graduate Diploma in Education program is $333.22 per unit, with students typically registering for 5 units per term. The program also has several additional fees, including SFU Ancillary Fees and a non-refundable application fee of $90 CAN.

The program is offered in a wholistic and transformative pedagogy, and includes courses such as Indigenous Education, Indigenous Programs & Courses, and Resources for Indigenous Students.

The Graduate Diploma in Education program is offered in-person at the Burnaby campus.
