Program Overview
Statistics and Actuarial Science
The Statistics and Actuarial Science program provides in-depth training in the discipline of statistics with the goal of developing research expertise. The program is designed to allow a student to specialize in a particular area of statistics. Our graduates work in universities, hospitals, research consulting companies, and other research organizations.
Program Requirements
Normally, students take two courses in their first two semesters of the program. They then take a comprehensive examination covering a broad range of senior undergraduate concepts in statistics. Students are interviewed and advised in advance regarding appropriate courses and study materials. Students conclude their program by successfully defending a thesis that constitutes a significant contribution to statistical methodology.
Program Length
Generally, students complete the program requirements in four years.

Ph.D. in Statistics
The Ph.D. program in Statistics provides in-depth training in the discipline of statistics with the goal of developing research expertise. The program is designed to allow a student to specialize in a particular area of statistics. Our graduates work in universities, hospitals, research consulting companies, and other research organizations. The program includes coursework, a comprehensive exam, and a thesis. In addition, it offers the opportunity to participate both in the consulting service and in co-operative education.
