Program Overview

Statistics and Actuarial Science

The Statistics and Actuarial Science program provides in-depth training in the discipline of statistics with the goal of developing research expertise. The program is designed to allow a student to specialize in a particular area of statistics. Our graduates work in universities, hospitals, research consulting companies, and other research organizations.

Program Requirements

Normally, students take two courses in their first two semesters of the program. They then take a comprehensive examination covering a broad range of senior undergraduate concepts in statistics. Students are interviewed and advised in advance regarding appropriate courses and study materials. Students conclude their program by successfully defending a thesis that constitutes a significant contribution to statistical methodology.

Program Length

Generally, students complete the program requirements in four years.
