Program Overview
Program Overview
The Spanish 3 course is designed for individuals who have a basic understanding of Spanish, equivalent to 3 to 4 years of Spanish at middle school, or those who have completed the Spanish 2 course. The course aims to refresh and improve Spanish language skills, with a focus on speaking, reading, listening, and writing.
Target Group
The course is intended for anyone who wishes to improve their Spanish language skills, including those who have taken Spanish at middle school and want to refresh their knowledge, or those who have completed the Spanish 2 course.
End Level
The entry level for the course is halfway to A2 (CEFR), and the level on completion is A2 (CEFR).
Course Content
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
- Hold short, simple conversations about personal topics
- Understand the key information in everyday conversations about familiar topics
- Understand the key information in short, simple texts (brochures, advertisements)
- Write short, simple messages or emails
The emphasis is on speaking skills, with reading, listening, and writing skills also addressed. Spanish is spoken as much as possible during lessons, with English used as a supporting language. Participants will also learn about Spanish culture.
Course Structure
The course includes 8 classes, one per week, each lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes. Participants should expect to spend 2 to 3 hours on homework each week.

The course is offered annually in February, April/May, and September. The specific dates and times are as follows:

Certification and Exam
To receive a Wageningen in'to Languages certificate, a minimum attendance of 80% is required. A diagnostic test is optional.

- BSc/MSc WUR Students: €60
- WUR Employees: €250
- Regular fee: €275
The course price does not include course materials. Payment will be invoiced by email on the day the course starts.

- Describing ongoing actions in the past and how they connect to present experiences
- Negotiating and discussing possibilities or hypothetical scenarios
Grammar
The course covers the following grammar topics:
- Regular and irregular forms of the gerund
- Present continuous (estar + gerund), past forms, and temporal markers
- Simple Conditional of 'poder' and 'importer'
- Irregular forms of the present perfect and past simple
- Future expressions with 'querer'/'pensar' + infinitive and 'ir a' + infinitive
- Hypotheses and wishes in the present
- Use of time adverbs (ya/todavia no), direct object pronouns, and conjunctions (y, pero...)
- Expressing habits with the verb 'soler' + infinitive
- Expressing how you feel using 'doler', 'ser', 'estar', and 'tener'
- Affirmative Imperative and pronouns in the imperative
- Temporal markers for the past and present
