Aarde, Economie en Duurzaamheid

The program Aarde, Economie en Duurzaamheid is designed for students who wish to understand the Earth and its changing processes, as well as connect societal discussions on climate to economic insights. The program involves fieldwork and is suitable for those interested in a career that combines environmental and economic aspects.

Toelating

To be admitted to the program, students must meet certain requirements.

Toelatingseisen met een Nederlandse vooropleiding

For students with a Dutch prior education:

• Vwo-diploma: The program is accessible with the following vwo profiles: Natuur en Gezondheid, Natuur en Techniek, Economie en Maatschappij, and Cultuur en Maatschappij, provided that the student has taken wiskunde A or B.
• Hbo propedeuse: Students with an hbo propedeuse must additionally obtain certificates for Wiskunde A or B at the 6 vwo level, Engels at the 6 vwo level, and Nederlands: minimaal NT2 II / CNaVT (STRT or EDUP).
• Hbo bachelor: Similar to the hbo propedeuse, students must obtain certificates for Wiskunde A or B at the 6 vwo level, Engels at the 6 vwo level, and Nederlands: minimaal NT2 II / CNaVT (STRT or EDUP).
• Erkende certificaten op vwo-niveau behalen: Students can obtain recognized certificates at the vwo level from various institutions accepted by the VU.

Toelatingseisen 21+ toelatingsonderzoek

For students aged 21 or older without a diploma that grants direct admission to a university bachelor's program:

• The following certificates must be obtained: Engels at the 6 vwo level, Wiskunde A or B at the 6 vwo level, and Nederlands: minimaal NT2 II / CNaVT (STRT or EDUP).
• The deadline for the 21+ admission test is December 15th.

Toelatingseisen met een buitenlandse vooropleiding

For students with a foreign prior education:

• A foreign diploma does not always grant direct admission. Students must register for the study in Studielink and upload the necessary documents to their VU dashboard for assessment.
• Additional admission requirements may include certificates for English at the 6 vwo level, Wiskunde A or B at the 6 vwo level, and Nederlands: minimaal NT2 II / CNaVT (STRT or EDUP).

VU Studiekeuzecheck

The VU Studiekeuzecheck is a mandatory part of the application procedure for all bachelor's programs at the VU. It involves filling out a questionnaire on VU.nl, after which students receive a personal advice regarding their study choice.

Bindend Studie Advies (BSA)

To receive a positive study advice, students must have earned at least 42 EC by the end of the first year of enrollment in the program. Students can view their results and the overview of their achieved results after each exam registration.
