Program Overview
Orchestral Dynamics and Leadership at the Metropole Orkest
Overview
The Orchestral Dynamics and Leadership at the Metropole Orkest program offers unique insights into group dynamics from a completely new angle. This program allows participants to learn how to inspire, facilitate, motivate, and collaborate with a team of highly trained professionals and an internationally acclaimed orchestra as a dynamic example.
Curriculum
The program includes a half-day training session where participants visit the studio of the Metropole Orkest to observe orchestral dynamics and modern leadership. During a rehearsal of the Metropole Orkest, participants will experience the organisational ecology of an orchestra firsthand. They will sit among the musicians, allowing them to perfectly observe how collaboration and direction take place in an internationally renowned top orchestra. Before the rehearsal, participants will receive an introduction explaining how an orchestra functions, including the roles of the conductor, the concertmaster/leader, and the different instrument groups. With this information and a case assignment, participants will then attend the rehearsal to see how leadership and collaboration work within the Metropole Orkest. Afterwards, they will engage in conversation with the musicians and discover, in a unique and inspiring way, the parallels with their own practice.
