Physics and Astronomy

The Physics and Astronomy program is a joint degree between the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the Universiteit van Amsterdam. As a student, you will benefit from the expertise, network, and research projects of both universities in the field of physics and astronomy. Upon graduation, you will receive a joint diploma from UvA and VU.

Program Overview

• The program is a two-year master's degree.

• Students can choose from seven tracks and study for two years.
• In the second year, students can join one of the many research groups at UvA or VU, or pursue the education variant to become a first-grade teacher.

They can also work in the financial sector, IT, consultancy, or government ministries and institutions like the RIVM or KNMI. Additionally, they can pursue a Ph.D. or become a teacher.
