Introduction to Rechtsgeleerdheid

First Year

In the first year, students are introduced to the various fields of law, including private law, administrative law, and criminal law. They are also trained in the skills necessary to answer legal questions, such as researching and selecting legal literature, reading judicial decisions, and arguing.

Second Year

In the second year, students delve deeper into the law, building on the foundation established in the first year. They are introduced to new subjects, such as civil procedure law and social law, and continue to develop their skills through various courses.

Third Year

In the third year, students have the opportunity to customize their study program by choosing from a range of elective courses. They can also participate in a minor program at the Faculty of Law or at another faculty or university, either in the Netherlands or abroad. In the second half of the year, students further develop their legal skills, including through the course Pleitoefening, where they simulate a case as a lawyer. The year culminates in the writing of a bachelor's thesis.
