Communication Science Programme
The Communication Science programme is designed for students interested in understanding the influence of social media on people's voting behaviour, creating effective health campaigns, and tackling reputational damage. Admission Requirements for Communication Science (English)
To be eligible for the Communication Science programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A diploma equivalent to the Dutch pre-university VWO-diploma
- Proof of sufficient proficiency in English
- Proof of sufficient proficiency in Mathematics
Requirements for Non-Dutch Previous Education
Applicants with non-Dutch previous education must apply via the International Office. The following documents are required:
- Scan of passport or national ID card
- VU Application Form - Bachelor
- Proof of English language proficiency (if already obtained)
Application Procedure
The application deadline for non-EU/EEA students is 1 April, and for Dutch and EU students, it is 1 May. Applicants must complete their application in the VU dashboard within six weeks and no later than one week after the application deadline.
Admission Requirements for Communicatiewetenschap (Dutch)
For Dutch-speaking students, the admission requirements include:
- A VWO diploma (all profiles) from a Dutch secondary educational institution
- Additional certificates for English and Mathematics at 6 VWO level (for HBO propaedeutic year or completed programme)
VU Study Choice Check
The VU Study Choice Check is a mandatory part of the application procedure. It aims to give prospective students a realistic idea of the programme's content and help them determine if the study matches their expectations.
Binding Study Advice (BSA)
The BSA is an advice given to all Bachelor's students on four occasions during their first year of studies concerning their study progress. To continue to the second year, students must have obtained a minimum of 42 EC (credits) at the end of the first year of enrolment.
