The Leergang Onderwijskundig Leiderschap (LOL) is a program focused on educational leadership at a strategic level. It is based on the educational vision of the VU, emphasizing leadership, involvement, and learning from and with each other in a group setting. The program also prioritizes diversity and regularly looks beyond its own framework.

Program Structure

• The program includes an intake, two leadership labs spanning three consecutive days, an expedition of three consecutive days, a 24-hour session with overnight stay, four regular meetings, three workshops, a harvest day for the VU, a final interview, and a ceremonial certification.
• Participants work on a joint assignment to strengthen educational quality at the VU and a faculty project related to this joint assignment.
• The content of the 24-hour session and the three-day sessions will be partly determined by the participants, who will contribute topics and lead program components.
• Certain themes high on the VU's agenda will be addressed, including visions on educational quality and testing, academic citizenship, diversity, and talent development.

Learning Objectives

The goal of the LOL program is to empower participants in their strategic, leadership, and educational roles. By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

• Lead educational (innovation) processes from a well-founded and personal vision of their own leadership.
• Lead teams and individual colleagues from a lived professional identity and stimulate colleagues in their professional development.
• Strengthen community formation within their own faculty and the VU.
• View current educational challenges from different perspectives and creatively translate them into solutions.
• Actively shape the future based on a (long-term) vision of current societal and educational themes.
• Promote their own professional development based on personal development questions, by experimenting with new behavior and reflection.
