Program Overview

Program Overview

The Basiskwalificatie Examinering (BKE) program is designed to optimize and responsibly prepare one's own tests.

Program Structure

The BKE program is conducted by two trainers from the Centre for Teaching & Learning and consists of four content sessions, each lasting a half-day. The program begins with an individual intake and includes a mid-term individual feedback/feedforward conversation. Participants work on their own project/products throughout the program to demonstrate their testing skills. This project, along with additional evidence and a reflection, forms the BKE portfolio. The program concludes with an oral assessment based on the portfolio and a presentation, where participants demonstrate possession of BKE qualities. Upon successful completion, the BKE certificate is awarded by the Certification Committee for Teacher Professionalization at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Study Load

  • Participants are required to dedicate at least 50 hours to the program, covering the four sessions, preparation, the mid-term conversation, and the assessment.
  • An additional 28 hours are estimated for the participant's own project, which should align with their regular work package. If the BKE project is in addition to regular work, the total estimated time is 75 hours.
  • The breakdown includes:
    • 18 hours of contact time
    • 24 hours for preparation, homework assignments, and interim intervision
    • 28 hours for the project
    • 5 hours for compiling the final assignment and assessment
