Program Overview

The Programa de formació inicial en docència universitària (Initial Training Program in University Teaching) is designed to provide university professors with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. The program is organized by the Institut de Desenvolupament Professional (IDP) of the Universitat de Barcelona, in collaboration with the Vicerectorat de Política Docent.

Program Objectives

The primary objective of the program is to enhance the quality of teaching at the university level. It aims to provide professors with the tools and expertise needed to develop their teaching skills, promote collaboration, and foster a sense of community among faculty members.

Program Structure

The program consists of three phases, with the first two phases being mandatory for professors. The third phase is optional.

• Phase 1: Introduction to university teaching
• Phase 2: Development of teaching skills
• Phase 3: Advanced teaching techniques (optional)

Target Audience

The program is designed for non-permanent contracted personnel, preferably professors, who are in their early years of teaching or have limited experience in university teaching.

Recognition of Initial Training

To receive recognition for the initial training, participants must submit an application with supporting documentation. The recognition process is outlined in the program's guidelines.

Organization of the Program

The program is designed to be progressive, with each phase building on the previous one. The first two phases have a high level of face-to-face interaction, aiming to contribute to the construction of the professor's identity, facilitate the exchange of experiences, and promote collaboration among professors from different areas.

Program Details

The program is part of the interuniversity program Margalida Comas, promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, which aims to establish a common framework for improving teaching and learning at universities. The program also complies with the LOSU (Llei Orgànica 2/2023, de 22 de març, del Sistema Universitari) regulations, which require universities to provide professors with the necessary training as educators.
