Program Overview
Introduction to the Spanish Culture Course
The Spanish culture course, "Understanding and Writing in Spanish," is designed to help students acquire strategies for interpreting and constructing written texts of different types and genres. This 90-hour course emphasizes processes of reading comprehension, planning, writing, and review.
Methodology
The course methodology involves observing and analyzing specific text models, followed by the creation of texts with similar characteristics. Students will engage in reading activities, analyze written texts, and undertake tasks related to planning, development, and organization of ideas. The use of connectors and the distribution of content in paragraphs will also be a focus.
Evaluation Criteria
The evaluation criteria for the course include:
- Attendance and participation in class: 20%
- Text produced or rewritten during the course: 50%
- Exam/final text: 30% Students will receive a grade for each semester, and the final grade for the course will be the average of both marks.

- Text types and genres, including descriptive, narrative, expository, and argumentative texts
- Interpretation and construction of texts, focusing on analytical reading, planning, composition, and revision
- Connective resources, such as additive, reformulative, and consecutive connectors
