Master of Software Engineering Programs
The Master of Software Engineering Programs is offered by the Software and Societal Systems Department at Carnegie Mellon University.
Program Eligibility
Eligible applicants to the MSE Online program for professionals have:
- Completed an undergraduate degree in computer science or an engineering-related discipline that includes coursework in discrete mathematics or statistics, data structures and algorithms.
- Software development experience acquired through full-time positions as a junior or senior software engineer, quality analyst, or architect, among other positions. Ideal candidates are working in active software development projects where they can apply the knowledge taught in the MSE Online program.
- Skills in programming-in-the-small, as well as competence in using imperative block-structured or objective-oriented languages, such as Java, C++, and Python.
Applicants are not required to submit GRE scores. Those who do not will be evaluated on the remainder of the application, which will be sufficient for making an acceptance decision. Applicants who have taken the GRE are encouraged to submit their scores.
Applicants are required to reside within the U.S. while enrolled in the MSE Online program.
