Why Washington?

The nation’s capital is a hub for all forms of media work, and is a hotbed for documentary filmmaking, journalism, government and nonprofit communications, and public relations. The city offers a unique blend of cultural, artistic, and sports attractions, making it an ideal location for students to immerse themselves in a dynamic and diverse environment.

A Customized Experience

While CMDI students take courses together in Washington, D.C., a big part of the program is the customized internship that’s curated for each student. This begins during the application process, which includes interviews with CMDI faculty and representatives from the Washington Media Institute. The interviews ensure students are prepared for the academic rigors of the program and establish each student’s experience levels and career aspirations.
