Program Overview


Just & Equitable Teaching (JET) Program Overview

The Just & Equitable Teaching (JET) Program at CU Boulder supports educators in developing inclusive, equitable teaching practices through a social justice framework. This professional development opportunity equips instructors with evidence-based resources and strategies to create inclusive learning environments.


Program Details

  • The JET program is free and designed to be completed in one academic semester.
  • It includes asynchronous coursework on Canvas and readings to support bi-weekly synchronous group discussions, each lasting 1.5 hours.
  • Meetings alternate between in-person and virtual each month.
  • Participants are expected to commit at least 40 hours throughout the semester.
  • The Capstone Project allows participants to create a concrete action plan for implementing equity-minded teaching practices within their discipline.

Program Dates

  • The cohort is limited to 18 applicants on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Participants must commit to being present in meetings for the majority, if not all, of the following Thursdays in Fall 2025:

Program Requirements

To complete the program, participants must:


  • Finish Canvas coursework
  • Attend group meetings
  • Complete a teaching reflection
  • Complete a Capstone Project

What You'll Gain

Participants who complete the program will earn a Digital Micro-Credential Badge issued through CU Boulder’s Micro-Credential Program. Upon completion, participants will be able to:


  • Engage in Reflection: Regularly examine and refine equitable teaching practices.
  • Analyze Social Justice and Equity: Understand definitions and their applications in teaching and learning.
  • Explore Power Dynamics: Investigate the relationships between power, privilege, oppression, and education.
  • Develop an Implementation Plan: Create a JET-informed teaching plan responsive to the cultural and social needs of learners.

Eligibility

  • Who Can Apply?
    • Graduate and professional students.
    • Postdoctoral fellows.
    • Teaching staff and faculty of all ranks affiliated with CU Boulder.
  • Graduate Students:
    • Earn 5 CTL credits toward the Certificate in College Teaching or the Future Faculty Development Certificate by completing the JET micro-credential.

Program Development

The JET micro-credential was developed by CU Boulder’s Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) and the CTL during the academic year.
