Program Overview


Introduction to the Communication Science Program

The University of Amsterdam is introducing a new study program for Communication Science, which will be fully renewed starting from the academic year. This English-language program focuses on the international role of communication in contemporary themes and challenges worldwide, such as politics, climate change, disinformation, and AI.


Program Description

In a diverse learning environment with students from over 60 countries, the program emphasizes different perspectives and essential communication skills. Students learn how communication works in a rapidly changing world and conduct research on the impact of media on people from diverse cultures. Topics covered include the influence of fake news on society, how communication can be used to promote healthier food choices, and the effects of influencer marketing on consumer behavior.


Practical Experience

Through practice-oriented assignments and an internship, students gain direct relevant experience for a career in an international environment.


Program Options

Students can choose between the English-language Bachelor's program in Communication Science and the Dutch-language Bachelor's program in Communicatiewetenschap. The study program for the Dutch-language program remains unchanged.
