Global Arts, Culture and Politics

The application process depends on where you have completed your prior education.

Students with Dutch Prior Education

• Deadline: 1 May 2026
• Application process: If you have obtained or will obtain a diploma or degree certificate from a Dutch educational institution, make sure you follow the application procedure.

Students with International Prior Education

• Deadline:
  • For non-EU/EEA students and EU/EEA students with an international degree who require services from the UvA (housing/visa): 1 April 2026
  • For EU/EEA students with an international degree who do not require services from the UvA (housing/visa): 1 May 2026
• Application process: If you have obtained or will obtain a diploma or degree certificate from an educational institution outside the Netherlands or an international school in the Netherlands, make sure you follow the application procedure.

Transferring to Global Arts, Culture and Politics

Students with an unfinished Bachelor's degree from another university cannot transfer their previously obtained credits to shorten their programme. All prospective students have to apply as a new student and start in the first year. You may sometimes be exempted from courses of your new study programme, naturally depending on the courses that you passed in your previous programme. If you would like to be eligible for this, you must submit an exemption request to the Examinations Board of your new degree programme, after you have been admitted. You need to prove the overlap by providing course descriptions from the other university, and a transcript.
