Program Overview

The Bachelor's programme in Psychology is a three-year, full-time programme that introduces students to the field of psychology and its subdisciplines. The programme is taught in English and consists of 180 EC.


Programme Structure

  • The first year introduces students to the field of psychology, including neuropsychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, work and organisational psychology, clinical psychology, and cognitive neuroscience.
    • Students also learn psychological research methods and academic and writing skills during practical training groups.
    • At the end of the year, students write a first-year thesis.
  • The second year focuses on learning how to conduct research, including translating psychological questions into a research design, compiling a study, statistically analysing the data, and writing a research report.
    • Students also attend practical training in psychological communication skills.
  • In the next semester, students choose their specialisation, which covers the second half of the second year of study.
    • The specialisation consists of a course package of one of the seven specialisations offered: Brain & Cognition, Clinical Developmental Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, Clinical Psychology, Psychological Methods, Social Psychology, and Work and Organisational Psychology.
  • In the first half of the third year, students further specialise by doing a course on methods & statistics and a bachelor's research project.
    • Students also choose two courses from a series of courses about current topics in psychology.
  • In the last semester of the bachelor's programme, students choose between a) a second specialisation, b) a minor, or c) an exchange programme.
