Psychology Program

Introduction

The Psychology program at the University of Amsterdam offers a comprehensive education in the field of psychology. The program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the principles of psychology, as well as the opportunity to specialize in a particular area of interest.

Honours Programme

Excellent students can participate in the Honours Programme offered by the College of Psychology from the second year on. The Honours Programme Psychology offers opportunities for extra academic broadening and deepening. To successfully complete the Honours Programme, students must:


  • Follow successfully 30 extra ec on top of the regular 180 ec (exemptions do not count)
  • Follow interdisciplinary courses for at least 12 ec (as part of the 30 ec extra)
  • Achieve a GPA of at least 7.5 for the courses in the regular programme (and no exemptions in the regular programme)
  • Complete their Bachelor's programme in three years
  • Successfully complete the mandatory parts of the Honours course Breaking Borders (as part of the 30 ec extra)
  • Complete their Bachelor’s Thesis with a minimum mark of 7.5

Follow-on Programmes

The program also offers follow-on programmes, allowing students to further specialize in their area of interest.
