Program Overview
Quantum Opportunities Sprint
The quantum era isn’t ten years away. It’s arriving now.
Overview
Equip yourself with the knowledge and frameworks to navigate quantum disruption, identify strategic opportunities, and prepare your organisation for the quantum era. This sprint combines University of Sydney expertise with insights from leaders at IBM to help you gain the strategic foresight to evaluate quantum technologies, identify use cases, and build governance frameworks that prepare your organisation for quantum disruption.
What you'll learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Evaluate the emerging landscape of quantum technologies and articulate their potential implications for industry, government, and society.
- Identify business and policy problems that could be addressed through quantum solutions.
- Articulate governance and risk considerations for security, regulatory, and organisational readiness for quantum technology.
Sydney Executive Plus
This sprint is delivered by Sydney Executive Plus in partnership with IBM. Sydney Executive Plus provides micro-credential sprint programs co-designed and delivered with leading industry partners. These courses focus on cutting-edge and emerging areas of business, technology, and society.
Aims
The Quantum Opportunities Sprint equips you with the fundamentals, applications, and strategic implications of quantum technologies. Across three core modules, you’ll move from scientific basics to concrete use-cases, finishing with governance and risk insights. The sprint emphasises practical vigilance: what to watch, where to experiment, and how to prepare organisations for quantum disruption. The sprint includes an applied project where you'll create a quantum readiness roadmap for your organisation.
Content
- Foundations of quantum computing
- Applications of quantum technologies
- Implications of a quantum world
Who is this course for?
The sprint is designed for senior executives, board directors, and public sector leaders who are responsible for strategic decision-making in technology, risk, and innovation. The course is aimed at professionals who need to interpret the opportunities and risks of quantum technologies at an organisational and governance level, rather than apply the science directly.
Course delivery style
This course will be delivered online via self-paced modules and livestreams over two weeks.
Materials
All course materials are provided electronically. Before the course begins, you will receive an email with all the instructions you need to access the course materials and communications platforms.
