Undergraduate Study Abroad Program (One Semester)

Overview

The University of Sydney Study Abroad Program provides students with the opportunity to add an international perspective to their education at an Australian university with a reputation for excellence in teaching and research. Students can study for one or two semesters from a wide-ranging selection of units of study on a non-award basis. They can also apply to participate in the Study Abroad Internship Program, which gives them the opportunity to reinforce their academic study with relevant industry experience and receive academic credit.


Admission, Fees, and How to Apply

  • Admission as a Study Abroad student is assessed on an individual basis.
  • Students may apply directly to Sydney Abroad, through a Study Abroad Program Partner, through a Study Abroad Agent, or through a Study Abroad University Partner.
  • A list of program partners and agents can be found on the Sydney Abroad website.
  • If applying directly to Sydney Abroad, students should complete the online application available through the “Apply” button on the program's webpage.
  • Tuition fees apply; please contact Sydney Abroad regarding fee information.

English Language Proficiency

Admission Requirements

  • To be considered for the Study Abroad Program, students need to:
    • Have completed at least one year of study towards a degree at a recognized institution in their home country and are continuing towards the degree at their home institution.
    • Have achieved a cumulative grade (across all results in their degree) of either 'Credit' or 'Good' average, or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale, or an average grade of 'C' or better on the European ECTS grading scale (or equivalent).
    • Have completed an accepted secondary school qualification with the required grades (some restrictions apply for certain units of study; in general, students applying with only a secondary qualification can only select 1000 level subjects without any pre-requisites).
  • All applicants must also have met the published English language requirements.
  • Architecture, Visual Arts, and Music have additional application requirements.

Starting Date

  • Application deadlines:
    • Semester 1: 30 November of the previous year.
    • Semester 2: 30 April of the same year.
  • The University strongly encourages applicants to apply as early as possible, as offers are made on a rolling basis. Late applications may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please refer to the Application deadlines on the Sydney Abroad website.
