For students with a basic foundation in sound recording, this course explores and expands practical skills and knowledge to further develop production techniques and workflow.

Course Outline
- Week 1: Recording studio principles – from bedroom to commercial studio
- Week 2: Interconnection – making your studio work in both the analog and digital domains
- Week 3: Setting up to record – the Digital Audio Workstation, monitoring and the recording space
- Week 4: Recording drums – exploring the many approaches to recording a drum kit
- Week 5: Recording guitar and piano – investigating the techniques for recording piano, acoustic and electric guitars
- Week 6: Recording vocals – a hands-on session on how to capture a great vocal sound
- Week 7: Live recording project – recording of a performance
- Week 8: Post-production – mixing and effects
