Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Aeronautical Engineering stream)
Program Overview
Bachelor of Engineering Honours
Aeronautical Engineering stream
Overview
Aeronautical Engineering focuses on the design, development, manufacture, maintenance, and control of aircraft and vehicles operating within Earth’s atmosphere and in outer space. This degree equips students with a comprehensive understanding of flight vehicle design, encompassing aerodynamics, propulsion systems, structural design, advanced materials, avionics, and stability and control systems.
Students will also gain insight into the operational aspects of flight vehicles, including reliability and maintenance, structural analysis for repairs, and the integration of engineering disciplines throughout the design process.
The program includes opportunities for practical flying training and hands-on experience with wind tunnel testing, flight simulators, and real aircraft components to evaluate structural and aerodynamic performance. In the final year, students may undertake a thesis project in specialised areas such as UAV (Unmanned Air Vehicle) design, structural optimisation, or experimental aerodynamics. Students also have the option to participate in an international exchange with leading aerospace universities in the northern hemisphere. Industry experience is built into the program through work placements and practical simulation.
