Program Overview

The Sydney Professional Certificate in Psychology of Pain is designed to provide graduates with specialized knowledge in the psychology of pain. This program aims to equip healthcare professionals with the skills and understanding necessary to manage pain effectively.

Graduates of this Professional Certificate will be able to:

  • Discuss how psychological principles can be applied to the management of pain by all healthcare providers.

Program Structure

To complete the Sydney Professional Certificate in Psychology of Pain, students must complete 12 credit points of 5000-level units of study. The required units are:


  • PAIN5003 Pain Treatment and Management Principles (6 credit points)
  • PAIN5027 Psychologically Informed Pain Management (6 credit points) Note: Students are prohibited from taking PAIN5011 or PAIN5016 if they are enrolled in this program.
