Bachelor of Engineering Honours

The Bachelor of Engineering Honours is a comprehensive program that encompasses various streams, including the Aeronautical Engineering stream. Completion of a stream is a requirement of the Bachelor of Engineering Honours.


Aeronautical Engineering Stream

The Aeronautical Engineering stream is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the principles and practices of aeronautical engineering. Students complete 120 credit points from the Aeronautical Stream table, comprising:


  • 108 credit points of Aeronautical Stream Core units
  • 12 credit points of Aeronautical Stream Core Extension units
  • Stream Elective units, Aeronautical Engineering Project units, and AMMExxxx Specialist Elective units may be taken within the Free Elective block.

    • Assumed knowledge: This Unit of Study builds on basic mechanics and aerodynamics material covered in previous Units and focuses it towards the analysis and understanding of aircraft flight mechanics.

    • Assumed knowledge: Must be enrolled in the Aeronautical stream or the Space major, have completed at least one year of study in the BE Hons, and have a WAM of 75 or higher
  • AERO3711: Aerospace Engineering Project 2
    • Assumed knowledge: Must be enrolled in the Aeronautical stream or the Space major, have completed at least 2 years of study in the BE Hons, and have a WAM of 75 or higher
  • AERO4711: Aerospace Engineering Project 3
    • Assumed knowledge: Must be enrolled in the Aeronautical stream or the Space major, have completed at least 3 years of study in the BE Hons, and have a WAM of 75 or higher

AMMExxxx Specialist Elective Units

The following units are part of the AMMExxxx Specialist Elective:


  • AMME3060: Engineering Methods
    • Prerequisites: AMME2000 or MATH2067 or (MATH2061 and MATH2065) or MATH2021
  • AMME4060: Advanced Computational Engineering
    • Assumed knowledge: Linear algebra, calculus and partial differential equations, Taylor series, the finite difference and finite element methods, numerical stability, accuracy, direct and iterative linear solvers and be able to write Matlab Scripts to solve problems using these methods
