Overview

This study unit builds on the series of lectures that outlined the general properties of the immune system, effector lymphocytes and their functions, delivered in the core courses, including IMMU2101 - Introductory Immunology and BMED2404 - Microbes, Infection and Immunity. The unit emphasizes fundamental concepts to provide a scientific basis for studies in clinical immunology, including dysfunctions of the immune system, such as autoimmune disease, immunodeficiencies, and allergy, and immunity in terms of host-pathogen interactions.
